Founding Fathers & DoDs CIO to Speak at U.S. IPv6 Summit
New Internet Conference
Taking Place from December 8 - 10 in Reston, VA
SANTA MONICA, CA - DECEMBER 3,
2004 - Dr. Linton Wells, the Defense Departments CIO and Acting
Assistant Secretary of Defense, Networks & Information Integration,
will address the US IPv6 Conference, organizers announced today. The conference,
which will take place from Dec. 8th though 10th in Reston, VA, and will
also feature all four of the Internets founding fathers: Vint Cerf,
Robert Kahn, Lawrence Roberts and Leonard Kleinrock. Dr. Charles Lynch,
Chief of the IPv6 Transition Office at the Defense Information Systems
Agency will also address the conference.

A main focus of the conference will be the militarys plan to transition
to the new Internet, and the impact that will have on spending, jobs and
private sector business opportunities.

6 (IPv6), has been mandated by the U.S. Department of Defense as well
as by other countries to replace the existing Internet standard, which
has been in effect since 1973. IPv6 will bring about vast improvements
in security, multimedia transmission, and mobile and wireless online operations,
along with enabling the Internet-based networking of billions of addressable
devices that will create many new commercial products and services. Details

that it holds, will be presented at the conference.
